Controller

The data controller is Vehicle Scouter, a UK sole trader. The owner's full legal name and address are available on request at info@vehiclescouter.com.

What we collect

Account: email address and a unique account id from our auth provider.
Activity: shortlists you save, MOT lookups, listing analyses and report unlocks.
Payments: handled by Stripe. We see the transaction id, customer id and amount — never your full card details.
Technical: standard logs (IP, user-agent) for security and debugging.

Why we use it

To deliver the service you asked for (legitimate interest / contract).
To take payment and provide receipts (contract).
To keep the service secure and prevent abuse (legitimate interest).
To comply with UK tax and accounting law (legal obligation).

Who we share data with

Stripe — payment processor for payments and VAT.
Lovable Cloud / Supabase — hosting and database.
DVSA — for MOT history lookups when you request one.
AI providers and a web extraction provider — only the data needed to fulfil the specific request.

How long we keep it

Account and saved data is kept until you delete it. Payment records are kept for at least 6 years to meet UK tax obligations. Logs are kept for up to 90 days.

Your rights

You have the right under UK GDPR to access, correct, delete or export your data, and to object to or restrict processing. Email us to action a request. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

We only use first-party storage needed to keep you signed in and remember preferences. No third-party advertising trackers.
